Sound familiar?
- An AIRMATIC Malfunction or Vehicle Too Low, Stop Vehicle message on the dash
- The car sits low on one corner or leans after sitting overnight
- You replaced an air strut, ride height sensor or compressor and the car now sits wrong
- Ride height is uneven front to rear and the suspension will not settle
- A shop wants to charge you a diagnostic fee just to run a calibration routine
Why this happens
Airmatic is the air suspension system Mercedes uses across the E, CLS, S, ML, GL, GLE and GLS families. The suspension control module does not measure ride height directly. It reads a set of ride height sensors mounted at the control arms and compares them against stored reference values.
When you replace a sensor, an air strut, or the control module itself, those stored reference values no longer match reality. The module keeps targeting the old numbers, so the car sits too high, too low, or crooked, and it may throw a malfunction message even though every part on the car is new.
The fix is a level calibration: you measure the actual ride height, feed the values to the suspension module with a scan tool, and the module relearns its reference points. A basic code reader cannot do this.
What you need to know before you calibrate
Calibration is not a leak repair. If the car drops overnight, a strut, air line or valve block is leaking and calibration will not hold. If the compressor runs constantly or has burned out, fix that first. Calibrate after the mechanical work is done, not instead of it.
How calibration works with the UCAN-II-D Pro
If you have used Xentry, this will feel familiar. The UCAN-II-D Pro follows the same menu path: you pick the control unit, read its fault memory, then work from the adaptation menu.
- Park on a flat, level surface with the car unloaded and the tires at correct pressure.
- Plug the scanner into the OBD2 port and switch the ignition on.
- Run a full system scan, then open the control unit list and select the AIRMATIC suspension control unit.
- Read the fault memory and check the live level sensor values to confirm which corner is off.
- Measure actual ride height at each wheel and compare against the specification for your model.
- Open Adaptations and run the ride height calibration, entering the measured values where prompted.
- Clear the fault memory, cycle the ignition, and confirm the car settles level.

Frequently asked questions
Will this work on my car?
Airmatic is used across the E, CLS, S, ML, GL, GLE and GLS families and related AMG models. If your car has Airmatic, the UCAN-II-D Pro can read the suspension module and run calibration. Not sure? Contact us before you buy.
I already use Xentry. Why would I want this?
The menu path is the same, so there is nothing new to learn. This is the tool you can leave in the car, hand to a colleague, or use without tying up a laptop and a licence.
Do I still need to measure the car?
Yes. Calibration relies on real measured ride height, so you will need a tape measure and a flat surface. The scanner handles the part your phone and a code reader cannot.
My car drops overnight. Will calibration fix it?
No. That is a leak. Find and repair it first, then calibrate.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once and updates are free.
What if it doesn't work for me?
You have 31 days from delivery to return it, and US return shipping is free.
