How to Find Your Original TPMS Sensor ID

You can obtain the original sensor ID in two primary ways.

Option 1: Read the ID Printed on the Old Sensor

The TPMS sensor ID is normally printed or engraved on the sensor housing. Because the sensor is installed inside the wheel, the tire usually must be removed or separated from the wheel before you can see it.

Carefully copy the complete sensor ID exactly as printed. A photograph of the old sensor label is strongly recommended.

Option 2: Read the ID With a Diagnostic Scanner

You may be able to retrieve the stored TPMS sensor IDs from the vehicle using a compatible diagnostic scanner, including supported versions of the:

The exact menu varies by vehicle, but the general path is:

Look for values such as:

  • TPMS frequency
  • Sensor status

Not every vehicle displays the operating frequency in live data. If the frequency is not shown, verify it from the original sensor, the original part number, or reliable vehicle service information.

Sensor ID and Frequency Must Be Exact

We must receive the correct sensor ID and frequency. Supplying an incorrect ID, entering a hexadecimal ID as decimal, selecting the wrong wheel position, or providing the wrong frequency may prevent the vehicle from recognizing the replacement sensor.

Do not guess the sensor ID or frequency. We are not responsible for programming errors caused by inaccurate information supplied with the order.

315 MHz or 433 MHz: Why Frequency Matters

Direct TPMS systems commonly operate at either 315 MHz or 433 MHz. The replacement sensor must transmit on the frequency expected by the vehicle.

Professional installation is recommended because the tire must normally be removed from the wheel. The technician should use the correct valve hardware, tightening torque, and tire-service procedures.

Cloning the original ID can eliminate manual sensor-ID registration on many compatible vehicles. However, vehicle TPMS designs vary. Some vehicles may still require an initialization procedure, driving cycle, wheel-position relearn, pressure reset, or other vehicle-specific step after installation.
