Why This Matters More Than The Price
A lot of S400 hybrid batteries are sold online as used, untested or "new" imports, with a 1 year warranty printed in the listing. eBay's own buyer protection runs 30 days from delivery. After that, the warranty is only as good as the seller's willingness to answer a message, and many stop answering.
We know because those owners call us. Every month we hear from people whose battery from another seller failed at month four or five, who could not reach the seller, and who are now paying for the part and the labor a second time. The cheap battery was the expensive one.
If a battery we rebuilt fails inside a year, you get another one. That is the whole policy.

Installation Notes
- • Recharge the A/C system after the install. On the S400 the hybrid battery is cooled by the air conditioning circuit. The car will start with the A/C discharged, but running that way shortens the life of the new battery. A working A/C system is part of the repair, not an option. If the electric A/C compressor is weak or dead, replace it in the same visit: rebuilt S400 hybrid A/C compressor.
- • High voltage. Disable the hybrid system per the procedure in our video and wear insulated gloves. If you are not comfortable with high voltage work, have a shop do it or bring the car to us.
- • Scan the car afterward. Clear the stored hybrid codes and confirm no new ones set. Our UCAN-II Pro reads the S400 hybrid modules; so does the dealer tool.
- • Want us to do it? Installation is not included in the $2,450 price; it is a separate service at our Baltimore shop. The battery weighs about 60 pounds and is a lithium ion pack, so it ships by ground only, never by air, from Baltimore, Maryland. Delivery is usually 4 to 5 business days in the continental US. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

How do I know it is the battery and not the power electronic module?
Scan the hybrid system and read the codes. Codes that point to the high voltage battery, cell balance or battery state of health mean the battery. Codes that point to the inverter, converter or power electronics mean the module. If the picture is mixed, email us the codes and VIN before ordering; we diagnose these every week and will tell you which one you need.
Will the car start right after installation?
Yes, as long as the battery was the fault. The battery is plug and play and needs no programming.
My part number is not in your list. Will it fit?
Yes. One battery fits every 2010 to 2013 S400 Hybrid regardless of the number on the original. Send your VIN if you would like it confirmed in writing.
What does rebuilt mean here?
The pack is rebuilt in our Baltimore shop and load tested before it ships. It is not a used battery pulled from a salvage car and resold as is.
How does a warranty claim work?
Email or call with your order number and the codes. We confirm the failure with you, you ship the battery back to Baltimore, and we send a replacement. Labor and return shipping are the only costs not covered.
Does the price include installation?
No. $2,450 is for the battery only, shipped to you or picked up in Towson. Installation is a separate service with its own quote.

Is there a cheaper way to keep the car running?
