The Tools Our Door Panel And Dash Videos Reach For First.

Thousands of the repair guides and videos on youcanic.com start the same way: a door panel, a dash trim piece, a center console or a stereo bezel has to come off without a mark. That is what this 38 piece kit is for. Nylon pry tools in different widths and curves for painted and soft surfaces, metal pullers for stubborn clips, in a case that goes in the trunk.

Nylon On Paint, Metal On Clips

The nylon tools are the ones you put against paint, leather, soft touch dash plastic and chrome trim. They flex instead of gouging, and when an edge finally rounds off after a few dozen panels, you move to the next one in the case. The metal pullers are for the clip itself: get the fork under a stuck push retainer or a door panel clip and lever straight up. Keep metal off anything you can see when the job is done.

Panels come off cleaner when you know where the clips are. Search your car on youcanic.com before you start; most of our door panel and trim guides show the clip locations and the order to work in.

How To Pull A Panel Without Breaking It

  1. Find the screws first. Door panels hide them in the armrest pull, behind the handle bezel and under small covers. A panel that will not come free usually still has a screw in it.
  2. Start at a corner with a wide nylon tool and work along the edge, popping one clip at a time, close to each clip rather than levering on the middle of the panel.
  3. Switch to a thin nylon blade for tight gaps such as dash trim and bezels, and to a metal puller only when a clip stays behind in the door.
  4. Lift the panel up and off once the clips are free, then unhook the window and lock cables and the connectors before you set it down.
  5. Replace the clips you broke. Some always break. Keep a 100 piece or 925 piece clip kit on the shelf so the panel goes back on tight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do nylon tools break?

They wear and they flex, which is the point: the tool gives before the panel does. With 38 pieces you have spares of the shapes that take the most abuse. If you are a shop pulling panels all day, expect to retire the thin blades first.

Can I take a factory radio out with this?

The kit is sold for stereo and trim removal and the nylon tools handle the bezel around the radio on most cars. Some makes also need specific radio release keys; check your car's guide before you start.

Will it scratch my dash?

Not if you keep the nylon tools on visible surfaces and the metal pullers on the clips behind them. Wipe grit off the tool and the panel edge before you pry; sand between the tool and the paint is what scratches.

Do I need clips too?

Usually. Push retainers and door panel clips are sacrificial and a few break on almost every job. The clip kits linked above cover the common sizes.

Is this a YOUCANIC made tool?

No. It is an imported kit we stock because it is what the job needs. We stand behind it with our 31 day returns and the same phone number as everything else we sell.
