A Chevrolet from the last fifteen years carries two to three dozen modules, and the parts store code reader talks to the engine control module and nothing else. The brake system control module, the body control module, the airbag sensing module, the transmission, the cluster and the radars and cameras on the newer trucks all answer through the same port, but only to a tool that addresses them. The tools below are what we use in our own shop in Maryland to reach every module on a Chevy, run the relearns and resets the dealer charges an hour of labor for, and clear the light for good. Service Functions By Job On A Chevrolet

On the tablet you pick the control unit, then the function category, then the routine. GM modules carry two working categories: Control Functions (bidirectional commands) and Configuration/Reset Functions (learns, resets and setups). These are the routines the coverage database lists for Chevrolet, grouped by the job you are doing. Names are as they appear on the tablet. Coverage varies by model and year, so check yours before you order.

What The Scanner Sees On A Chevrolet

Two vehicles pulled from the coverage database, with the control units the UCAN-II Pro lists on each. Every unit gets fault codes, live data and, where the database shows it, control functions and configuration or reset functions.

The database runs by model year code from 1996 to 2025, so a 2005 Silverado or a 2012 Equinox shows the smaller module set of its day, with the same category names.

Symptom, Then The Routine That Fixes It

• Service StabiliTrak or traction light after an alignment, steering rack or sensor replacement: Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering, then Yaw Rate Sensor Learn in the electronic brake control module.
• P1336 or a no start after a crankshaft sensor, flywheel or engine control module replacement: Crankshaft Position Variation Learn.
• Rough idle after a throttle body clean or a new throttle body: Idle Learn and APP Learn, with Idle Speed Control Reset on the models that list it.
• Tire pressure light after a rotation or new sensors: Tire Pressure Sensors Learn, with the U360 sensor programmed first if you replaced one.
• Harsh or flared shifts after a transmission rebuild, valve body or fluid service: Transmission Adaptive Pressure Reset, then Transmission Service Fast Learn where the transmission supports it.
• Passenger airbag indicator wrong after seat or cushion work: Passenger Presence Sensor Learn in the Passenger Presence Module.
• Blend or mode door stuck after a new actuator: HVAC Actuators Learn in the HVAC control module.

Frequently Asked Questions

Service StabiliTrak came on after an alignment on my Silverado. What do I run?

Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering, and on most models the Yaw Rate Sensor Learn, both in the brake system control module. Both are in the configuration and reset list for Chevrolet on the UCAN-II Pro.

Will it do the crankshaft position variation learn after a new crank sensor?

Yes. Crankshaft Position Variation Learn is in the engine control module list, and it is the step that clears the P0315 that follows a crank sensor, flywheel or engine replacement.

Can it force a DPF regeneration on a Duramax?

Yes. DPF Service Regeneration and DPF Reset are in the configuration list, along with the DPF pressure sensor learn. The DPF guide explains when a forced regeneration is the right call and when it is not.

Does it program keys?

No. Key programming needs the GM server. The UCAN-II Pro does diagnosis, live data, control functions, relearns and the resets listed above.

Can I rent it for one job?
