Scion Diagnostic Scanners and Adapters

QUICK ANSWER FOR SCION OWNERS

  • For a Scion, the YOUCANIC UCAN-II Pro is the full system scanner with lifetime free updates; the UCAN-GO reads engine codes only.
  • No Scion in the coverage database needs an adapter; the UCAN-II Pro plugs into the 16 pin port under the dash on every tC, xA, xB, xD, iQ, FR-S, iA and iM listed.
  • On a Scion the UCAN-II Pro runs the Toyota family routines: Air Bleeding, VSC Line Air Bleeding, Reset Memory, Test Mode, Signal Check, Zero Point Calibration, ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset, CVT Oil Pressure Calibration, ID Registration for TPMS and Switch Oil Maintenance Display.
  • The UCAN-II Pro does not program Scion keys or smart keys; those need the Toyota server through Techstream.
  • The Scion coverage database is the USA region, with 14 control units listed on a 2015 iQ and on a 2016 iM.
  • You can rent the UCAN-II Pro for a week with a refundable deposit, and every purchase has 31 day returns with no questions asked.

Written by the YOUCANIC technicians in Towson, Maryland, from the UCAN-II Pro coverage database and our own shop work. Updated October 24, 2026.

A Scion is a Toyota with a different badge, and the coverage database treats it that way: the same Engine and ECT, ABS/VSC/TRAC, EMPS, SRS Airbag, Main Body and Combination Meter modules, the same special function names and the same zero point and bleeding routines the dealer charges an hour of labor to run. The parts store code reader sees the engine and nothing else. The tools below are what we use in our own shop in Maryland to reach every module on a tC, xB, xD, iQ, FR-S, iA or iM and clear the ABS, airbag and body lights for good. The coverage database lists the USA market Scions, the tC, xA, xB, xD, iQ, iQ EV, FR-S, iA and iM, with 14 control units on a 2015 iQ and on a 2016 iM. If you own the Toyota twin of your car, the Toyota page reads the same. Pick by what you need to do.

Which Scanner Do I Need For A Scion?

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ONLY
YOUCANIC UCAN-GO Bluetooth OBD2 adapter with live gauge dashboard on a phone

UCAN-GO

Reads and clears engine codes from your phone and gives you a live gauge dashboard. It does not see ABS, VSC, airbag or body modules, and it cannot run a zero point calibration or a brake bleed. Right if the only light you care about is the engine one.

EVERY MODULE, EVERY SERVICE FUNCTION
YOUCANIC UCAN-II Pro 7 inch tablet scanner with wireless Bluetooth VCI adapter

UCAN-II Pro, new or open box

Full system, bidirectional, lifetime free updates. Reads and clears every control unit, runs active tests and the Toyota family service functions on a Scion: ABS and VSC air bleeding, zero point calibration, reset memory and test mode, transmission learning value reset, CVT oil pressure calibration, TPMS ID registration, oil maintenance display switch. The tool to own if you keep a Scion running.

Rent the UCAN-II Pro for a week

Same scanner, shipped both ways free, with a refundable deposit that comes back when the scanner does. For the one brake bleed, zero point calibration or airbag code you need done once.

No Adapter Needed On A Scion

Every Scion in the coverage database plugs straight into the 16 pin port under the dash. No adapter to buy and no gateway to unlock, so the UCAN-II Pro is the whole kit. The iA, built by Mazda, and the FR-S, built with Subaru, sit in the same Scion database with their own module lists.

Functions still vary by model, engine and year, so check your exact car before you order.

Service Functions By Job On A Scion

On the tablet you pick the control unit, then the function category, then the routine. The Scion database uses the Toyota categories, Special Function (the service routines) and Active Test (bidirectional tests). These are the routines the coverage database lists for Scion, grouped by the job you are doing. Names are as they appear on the tablet. Coverage varies by model and year, so check yours before you order.

What The Scanner Sees On A Scion

Two vehicles pulled from the coverage database, with the control units the UCAN-II Pro lists on each. Every unit gets fault codes, live data and, where the database shows it, active tests and special functions.

Vehicle in the database Control units Examples of what it lists
2016 Scion iM, 2ZR-FAE engine 14 Engine and ECT, Cruise Control, ABS/VSC/TRAC, Tire Pressure Monitor, EMPS, Air Conditioner, Immobiliser, Theft Deterrent, SRS Airbag, Main Body, D-Door Motor, Combination Meter, Occupant Detection, Remote Engine Starter
2015 Scion iQ, 1NR-FE engine 14 Engine and ECT, ABS/VSC/TRAC, Tire Pressure Monitor, EMPS, Air Conditioner, Immobiliser, Theft Deterrent, SRS Airbag, Main Body, D-Door Motor, P-Door Motor, Master Switch, Combination Meter, Occupant Detection

Symptom, Then The Routine That Fixes It

  • ABS and VSC lights after an alignment, a steering rack or a sensor replacement: Reset Memory and Test Mode in ABS/VSC/TRAC, the zero point calibration for the yaw rate and deceleration sensors.
  • Spongy pedal after a caliper, brake line or ABS actuator job: Air Bleeding and VSC Line Air Bleeding in ABS/VSC/TRAC.
  • Harsh or hunting shifts after a transmission fluid service on a tC or xB: Learning Value Reset in Engine and ECT, then ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset where the car lists it.
  • Tire pressure light after new sensors: ID Registration in the Tire Pressure Monitor module, with the U360 sensor programmed from the tablet first.
  • Maintenance required light after an oil change: Switch Oil Maintenance Display in the Combination Meter.
  • Steering pull or an EMPS warning after a rack or column replacement: Torque Sensor Adjustment in the EMPS module.

What It Will Not Do, So You Know Before You Buy

Key and smart key programming, immobilizer reset after a lost key, ECU reflashing and anything else that needs a live connection to the Toyota server are Techstream and dealer jobs, and no aftermarket scanner does them. For diagnosis, live data, active tests and the service functions above, which is what most owners and independent shops actually do week to week, the UCAN-II Pro covers it at one price with no renewal fee. Functions vary by model, engine and year, so check your car or email support@youcanic.com with your VIN and the function you need before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it do the zero point calibration on my Scion tC after an alignment?

Yes. Reset Memory, Test Mode and Signal Check are in the ABS/VSC/TRAC special functions, along with Zero Point Calibration and Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration on the cars that list them by name. That is the routine that clears the ABS and VSC lights after steering or suspension work.

Can it bleed the ABS on my xB after a brake line replacement?

Yes. Air Bleeding and VSC Line Air Bleeding are in the ABS/VSC/TRAC special functions. The ABS bleeding guide covers the pedal and valve sequence.

Does the Scion page cover the FR-S and the iA?

Yes. Both are in the Scion coverage database alongside the tC, xA, xB, xD, iQ and iM. The FR-S and the Mazda built iA carry their own module lists, so check your exact car in the coverage checker for the routines you need.

Does it program keys or smart keys on a Scion?

No. Key programming needs the Toyota server through Techstream. The UCAN-II Pro does diagnosis, live data, active tests, calibrations and the service functions listed above.

Can I rent it for one job?

Yes. The rental is a one week rental plus a refundable deposit that comes back when the scanner does, shipped free both ways. Most Scion renters want a brake bleed, a zero point calibration or an airbag light cleared.

How do I know my exact car and function are covered?

Use the coverage checker by model, engine, year and module, or call 1-888-959-4265, Monday to Friday 9 AM to 4 PM Eastern, and a technician will tell you plainly. If it does not do what you need, we will say so. Every scanner also comes with 31 day returns, no questions asked.
