The 12+8 Adapter is used to bypass FCA Vehicles Security Gateway Module (SGM) which limits an aftermarket scan tool to only reading DTCs and viewing data. 

Most 2018 and newer FCA vehicles include a Security Gateway Module.

If you don't use AutoAuth you can expect to see this message when scanning a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, or Alfa vehicle with the Security Gateway Module:

Will I be able to reset any warning lights? 

Yes, but you must fix the problem that triggered the fault first. If the problem is present, the code will be active, and we will not be able to clear the codes. 

Why can't I clear the code? 

To erase a code, first, you need to fix the underlying problem, then we can reset the codes. 

Certain codes can be reset if they are not active. For example, if your airbag light came on because your battery died or you disconnected the battery, we will be able to reset it; if the airbag light came on because the seat occupancy sensor is faulty, we would not be able to reset it until you fix the problem. 

How does this service work?

2. We ship you a diagnostic adapter gets plugged into the OBD-II port and connects to your Android phone or Windows 10 device. 
3. Once you receive the scanner, we set up a time to connect remotely and perform a vehicle diagnostic. We will read the codes and explain what they mean.
