Service Functions By Job On A Hino

What The Scanner Sees On A Hino

The Hino database is organized by engine code and communication type rather than by truck model, so the tablet lists the engine you have and the systems around it. Symptom, Then The Routine That Fixes It

• DPR warning light or a derate after a lot of idling and short trips: DPR status check, then DPR Forced Regeneration from the engine control module, with the DPR Differential Pressure Check to confirm the filter cleared.
• Filter replaced and the warning stays: DPR state reset in the engine control module.
• Miss, smoke or an injector code: Cylinder cutout to find the cylinder, then Read and Write injector data after the new injector goes in.
• EGR code or black smoke: EGR position and the EGR solenoid valve tests, then EGR Check Start after cleaning or replacing the valve.
• DEF fault or a dosing code: DEF pump opening, DEF injector opening and the DEF dosing test pattern on the DCU before anyone buys a pump.
• Service reminder after an oil change: Engine oil replacement time, by distance or by period, in the meter system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it force a DPR regeneration on my Hino 268 or 338?

Yes. DPR Forced Regeneration, DPR status check, DPR state reset and DPR Differential Pressure Check are listed in the Hino special functions under the engine control module. The database lists trucks by engine code (the J08E in the 268 and 338, for example), so confirm your engine code on the coverage checker first.

Can it write injector data after I replace an injector?

Yes. Read and Write injector data is in the engine function list, and Cylinder cutout is there to find the bad cylinder before you pull it.

Does it test the DEF pump and injector?

Yes. DEF injector opening, DEF pump opening, DEF pump reverting valve and the DEF dosing test pattern are listed under the DCU and SCR systems, which is how you prove the dosing side before replacing parts.

Does it flash the ECU or change the password protected parameters?

No. Those need Hino DX at the dealer. The UCAN-HD-A does diagnosis, live data, active tests and the special functions listed above, including the vehicle speed limit setting the database lists on the engine control module.

My Hino is a hybrid. Does it see the hybrid systems?

The database lists Hybrid, Battery and Inverter systems for fault codes, live data and ECU information. Check your model year on the coverage checker for the routines on those systems.
